OACP 2026 Annual Spring Conference Presented by Our Family Wizard

May 15, 2026
Featuring Tracey Biebel, LCSW

Full-Day Training (9:00 AM – 4:30 PM)

Working Effectively with Clients Across Trauma Levels

Join us for a dynamic, interactive full-day training designed specifically for mediators, attorneys, and helping professionals working with families in conflict.

Participants will learn what trauma responses look like and how Collaborative professionals can effectively work with people who have experienced trauma. The session will help professionals recognize trauma, when trauma may be affecting a participant’s ability to move forward, ways professionals can help clients prepare, and strategies for working with clients who are negotiating with someone connected to their trauma.

This experiential workshop blends accessible trauma science with hands-on skill building. Participants will:

  • Understand how trauma impacts communication, decision-making, and conflict dynamics

  • Recognize nervous-system responses (fight, flight, freeze, fawn) in real time

  • Learn trauma-responsive interviewing and mediation techniques

  • Practice de-escalation, neutrality, and regulation strategies

  • Engage in live demonstrations, fishbowl role-plays, improv-based skill labs, and small-group case applications

  • Leave with practical tools, scripts, and checklists ready for immediate use

This training focuses on working effectively in the presence of trauma—without stepping outside your professional role.

Featuring Tracey Biebel, LCSW, a Portland based therapist who has worked with families for more than two decades. She has supported children, parents, and families navigating complex and often traumatic life events. Her work includes supporting families involved in divorce, adoption, developmental challenges, and crisis situations, with a focus on compassionate guidance, practical skills, and healing-centered care.
